RBIEX was founded out of the struggle of many small providers to find quality affordable interconnects and peers. It was realised that many small ISPs cannot afford thousands of pounds in membership and port fees. RBIEX aims to turn the tables on the traditional IXP business model.
On April 13th 2004, RBIEX officially ratified its organisational charter. This lays out the basic structure for the organisation, how voting will work and lays plans for the Council of Management.
